Man charged with killing live-in girl friend
Kathmandu, April 16
Police today arrested 30-year-old Bijay Tamang on the charges of murdering a woman.
Tamang, a permanent resident of Thori, Parsa, was currently residing in Dhapasi, Kathmandu.
The woman has been identified as 33 year old Purnima BK, a permanent resident of Gorkha currently residing in Dhapasi.
The body of the woman was found on the way to Dhapasi height last evening. She had a deep injury on her head and had died on the spot. Police arrested Tamang just before he tried to flee from his rented room.
The couple was in a live-in relationship since the last seven months. BK was married, but had left her husband and started living with Tamang, a mason by profession. BK, a labourer, used to work together with Tamang at the construction site.
During police interrogation, Tamang confessed that he had hit the woman with a stone over a dispute. “Tamang and BK had consumed alcohol in a local alcohol shop as they were returning from their work. BK didn’t want to return to their rented room. Tamang had a feeling since the last three months that the woman was having an affair with someone else and was distancing herself from him. He had asked her either to leave him or end her relationship with the other man.
The woman neither wanted to leave him nor wanted to end her relationship with another man. He tried convincing her but later he resorted to hitting her with a stone and went to the room,” said Bishwaraj Pokharel, SSP, Kathmandu Police Range.
