KATHMANDU, APRIL 2

Barsha Man Pun, a member of the House of Representatives (HoR) from the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), has stated that the party will assume the role of the opposition while maintaining a critical stance in Parliament.

Speaking during today's first sitting of the HoR, he affirmed the party's commitment to extending constructive support to the government on matters concerning the nation and its people.

"We are prepared to support initiatives related to nation-building, social justice, transformation, and other issues in the public interest," he said, adding that the party would collaborate with the government to further strengthen the republic, democracy, federalism, inclusion, and other political achievements.

Emphasising the party's adherence to democratic norms and processes, he stressed that the new government should prioritise addressing issues raised by the youth.

Recalling that the then Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) secured a public mandate in the 2008 elections, the CPN-UML in the 2022 elections, and that the Rastriya Swatantra Party has garnered similar voter trust this time, he urged the RSP to chart its future course while learning from the shortcomings of other political parties.
