Kathmandu, June 11

Kathmandu District Court today convicted Bishwaram Ranpaili alias Dinesh for raping and murdering a 12-year-old girl.

The court slapped life imprisonment on the convict besides ordering him to pay Rs 50,000 in compensation to the victim’s family.

The verdict was delivered by Judge Rajendra Nepal.

According to case details, the victim was raped and murdered on 18 May  2016, in her parents rented room in Dallu,  Kathmandu.

The victim’s parents, who  refused to receive the  body of their daughter kept at  Teaching Hospital morgue, will now receive the body, said advocate Swagat Nepal who pleaded on behalf of the victim in the court.

According to advocate Nepal, the victim’s parents had said that they would not receive the body of their daughter until they got justice.

According to advocate Nepal, the victim’s father Swambhu (name changed) had stated in the first information report that his daughter was raped and murdered by Bishwaram Ranapaili, who lived in the same rented flat on 18 May 2016. His daughter was alone in the rented room that day.
