Man held for woman's character assassination via Facebook
KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police has recently arrested a man on the charge of character assassination of his Facebook friend.
Raj Bahadur Bohara (23) of Dehimandau, Baitadi has been arrested for capturing and circulating an "obscene video" involving a woman in order to extort jewellery, money and other valuables from her.
He would extort valuables from her, threatening that he would make the video public if his demand was not made.
Earlier, Bohara had entered the victim's room in a night and captured the video after forcing her to take a narcotic substance.
Then he sent the video to the victim's relatives via Facebook Messenger, thereby committing her character assassination, police said.
Bohora also defamed and mentally tortured her, according to police.
The CIB said the conman would be booked under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2008.
The CIB is investigating into the case.
