KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 19

A garment businessman Mohammad Darji, 55, also known as Lal Mahommad, was shot dead today afternoon at Gothatar, in Kageshwori Municipality of Kathmandu.

Darji, a permanent resident of Ward 8 of Godaita Municipality, Sarlahi, was shot outside his factory-cum-house as soon as he got out of his private car.

Deceased Darji used to live on the upper floor of the factory with his family according to police.

A CCTV footage of the incident shows that Darji was shot just a few seconds after he got out of his car. He was talking to his driver after closing the car door, when a man in red hoodie fired the first shot with a revolver from just a few feet away.

As soon as Mohammad received the first shot, he ran around the car to hide from the assassin, but, the man followed him and fired at least three more shots.

The CCTV showed the victim's daughter jumping from the first floor of the house to save her father. Then, another women, possibly Darji's wife also runs to save him. The shooter can then be seen running away.

Police said Darji was shot twice in the head, once in the chest and once in the right thigh. He was rushed to Shankarapur Hospital and later transferred to TU Teaching Hospital in Maharajgung. He succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
