Maoist Centre ministers to resign on Friday

KATHMANDU: CPN Maoist Centre ministers, who were in the government in a profile-less status after being stripped of ministries post Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's latest cabinet expansion, have decided to finally resign.

Maoist leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha's personal aide Suresh Kaji Shrestha verified the news to THT online.

The 17 ministers will submit their resignation on Friday. Earlier, the ministers' resignation were slated to be offered on Thursday. However, since Thursday was a public holiday, they will officially leave the government on Friday.

The Maoist ministers were relived from their departmental responsibilities and were sans-profile after the party forged a surprise alliance with the opposition party- CPN-UML.

The Maoist Centre maintained that the party did not call back their representatives from the cabinet fearing that the NC led government could either delay or possibly not hold the elections in their absence.
