Maoist CA member Prabhu Sah quits Constitution Drafting Committee
KATHMANDU: Expressing reservation over the ongoing work of revision of draft constitution, UCPN-Maoist lawmaker Prabhu Sah on Friday resigned as a member of the Constituent Assembly's Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC).
Sah submitted his resignation to the CDC Chairman Krishna Prasad Sitaula today.
"I resigned from the Committee as it tried to include issues other than those that were agreed by parties into the draft constitution," Sah told mediapersons after giving up the CDC membership.
The former minister also charged that the CDC did not allow its members to get involved in the constitution-drafting process.
"We, members, are kept as mere witnesses at the bay," he added.
Sah was elected to the Constituent Assembly from Rautahat-3 under the first-past-the-post election system.
Endorsing the Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC)'s proposal on revised draft of constitution following public feedback, the CA on Wednesday had assigned the CDC to prepare “Reviewed Bill” (final draft) of the new constitution within five days.
