Maoist victims’ warning

KATHMANDU: A delegation of the Maoists Victims National Struggle Committee on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal through his personal assistant at Baluwatar this morning.

The delegation had handed over the memorandum to Yadav Sharma, personal assistant of the PM Nepal, as the PM was unable to attend

the meeting. The victims are demanding to declare the deceased of the decade long conflict as martyrs and a sum of Rs 1 million as compensation to the deceased’s family. Putting forward a 15-point demand, they have also demanded the

government to make the names public of the people missing during the conflict, to end impunity in the nation and the return of the seized properties by the Maoists to the rightful owners. According to Gopal Bahadur Shah, general secretary of MVNSC, they had also demanded to be declared as internal refugees if the government failed to address their demands.

The MVNSC has furnished a 15-day ultimatum to the government. “We have also

informed the PM that we will launch severe protest programmes if the government fails to address our demands,” Shah said.
