Maoist whip to vote for no-confidence motion

KATHMANDU: The CPN Maoist Centre on Wednesday issued a whip to its lawmakers, instructing to vote for a no-confidence motion the party filed against the incumbent Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal himself instructed the lawmakers to vote for the motion to ensure its endorsement, at the CPN MC Parliamentary Party meeting held today.

According to a statement issued by Dahal's Secretariat, Dahal had explained background of the no-trust motion and need of a national consensus to the lawmakers.

He reiterated that the party was forced to file the motion as PM Oli did not resign even after 24 hours of the government thrown into minority.

Earlier, on July 12, the party had withdrawn its support extended to the government and filed the no-trust motion a day after in alliance with the main opposition Nepali Congress.

Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar has fixed the date of tomorrow to begin discussions on the motion.
