Massive blaze rages on at Tekhapukhu in Bhaktapur
BHAKTAPUR: A massive fire which broke out at 2 am on Sunday morning is continuing to wreak havoc at Tekhapukhu block of Bhaktapur Municipality.
Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army personnel with the support of locals have been working at the site to contain the fire.
Six fire engines from Bhaktapur, Kathmandu and Lalitpur are also being used to douse the fire.
A preliminary investigation found that dry wood used to cook food sparked the fire, said DSP Krishna Prasai of Metropolitan Police Range Office, Bhaktapur.
The fire has gutted at least five houses belonging to eight families, added DSP Prasai.
Human casualties have not been reported yet.
Total damages incurred was yet to be estimated, said police.
