Mediapersons, artistes felicitated

At a seminar on ‘Importance and effectiveness of ayurvedic medicines’ and ‘Felicitation programme’, media personalities and artistes were honoured for their contribution in their respective fields. The seminar and felicitation programme was organised by Omkar Ayurvedic Pharmacy. Chief secretary, Bimal Koirala, felicitated journalists from the radio, television and print media. Among those felicitated are the co-coordinator of Metro TV, Manohari Thapa, the chief editor of Rajdhani Daily, Kapil Kafle and folk singer and newsreader, Komal Oli. Likewise, Nav Raj Pokherel of Nepal Television (NTV), Sri Ram Singh Basnet of Rastriya Samachar Samiti, Gokarna Khatiwada of Nepal One Television, Diwakar Bagchand of NTV, Shyam Shrestha of Kantipur, film actress Jal Shah, Shishir Manandhar, the department chief of Metro FM 94 MHz and Dil Bhushan Pathak of Kantipur Television were also felicitated.

Manohari Thapa of Metro TV said, “This honour and respect has made us more responsible and sensitive towards our profession. The respect has been given for honesty, creativity and exceptional performance in one’s field.”

“Media censorship is hardly affecting the national media as it has always been the government’s mouthpiece,” said Komal Oli. Kapil Kafle, the chief editor of Rajdhani Daily said, “Opinion of every sector needs to be addressed in the present context. People’s opinions and perspectives should be given space in order to move in the right direction.” Kamal Prasad Giri, the president of Omkar Ayurvedic Pharmacy, said they are providing treatment for gastritis and other chronic diseases for the past 14 years.
