The World Council for Total Quality and Excellence in Education (WCTQEE-Nepal chapter) is organising its first National Convention on Students’ Quality Circle (NCSQC) here from October
26-28 with the aim of encouraging quality among young people from early childhood. “In order to produce people who possess commitment, positive outlook, leadership qualities and desire to excel, have to be trained right from the beginning with quality consciousness as their second nature,” said Professor Dinesh Chapagain, the WCTQEE’s director general. “The convention will provide a platform for the students to exhibit their talent with regard to working as a team and to solve the problems on their own.” The theme of the NCSQC convention is ‘Education for Peace.’ Professor Chapagain said that the SQC helps to develop creative thinking capacity, communication and presentation skills, collaborative working attitude and problem solving capacity. About 60 teachers have been trained as the SQC facilitators. “We have experienced that after attending this programmme, the students of Kathmandu University High School had become smarter and their outlook towards life had become more positive,” said Narayan Pradhan, the convener of the first NCSQC.
