MESA denies taking state money
Kathmandu, May 16:
Media for Economic and Social Awareness (MESA) has clarified that it has not received any money as mentioned in the white paper issued by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) yesterday.
According to a statement issued by the MESA here today, the white paper mentioned that Ojashi Gautam, general secretary of MESA, received Rs 30,000 on February 20 from the Ministry of Information and Communications under financial support and one-door policy of the government.
The MESA has requested the Finance Ministry to correct the mistake made in the white paper and asked it to apologise for mentioning the organisation’s name.
The statement said, MESA had registered a proposal at the Communication Ministry on the request of then minister Sirish Shumshere Rana in February to conduct a study about online journalism. However, the study was not conducted, it said.
