Metro police intensify CCTV installation drive
KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Police Office has intensified its closed-circuit television (CCTV) installation drive in multiple locations of the Kathmandu Valley.
Busiest and most sensitive areas in the Valley are being brought under the CCTV surveillance.
The Metropolitan Police Commissioner's Office has said the cameras have already been set in 241 public locations and the installation in more 94 locations including Jawalakhel, Satdobato, Budhanilakantha and Maharajgunj areas is underway.
The installation is aimed at stepping up public security with checking and controlling road offences, the Office said.
Areas outside the Ring Road will also have CCTVs, Office Commissioner Pratap Singh Thapa said.
The installation is expected to cost around Rs 20 million.
