Migrant worker shot dead in US

KATHMANDU: A Nepali migrant worker was shot dead during a robbery attempt at a convenient store in Spartanburg area on Wednesday night. The incident occurred at Citgo at 1001 North Church Street in South Carolina State of the US.

According to WYFF News, Rabindra Sharma, 40, co-owner of the store was shot at pointblank along with his Mexican clerk Gumaro Gonzales Bravo, 35.

When security officials reached the incident site, the co-owner was moaning and holding his abdomen. They, however, succumbed to injuries at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

The autopsies of the deceased were carried on Thursday. Police have started making enquiries about the suspects. Meanwhile, Krishna Kandel the other co-owner of the store told News 4 that they had taken the ownership of the store just a few months back. “We are both graduates from Nepal and have been good friends for the last 20 years,” Kandel said.

The police have enquired him about the attempted robbery and murder. Kandel lamented that he had never thought that such killings would take place and added that he would not have been spared if he were at the store too. “The victims' kith and kin are not informed yet and I am unsure if I will reopen the store,”Kandel added.
