KATHMANDU, MARCH 30

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has pledged legal action against those responsible for the violent protests orchestrated by ex-king supporters at Tinkune, Kathmandu, on March 28.

He stated that an investigation is underway to uncover the facts.

While receiving a memorandum from Press Chautari Nepal at the Ministry today, Minister Gurung assured that the government would hold the culprits accountable by forming a probe committee. He accused the former king of reneging on his commitment to political parties and resorting to violence under the guise of agitation.

"Royalists must take responsibility for the violent demonstrations. The former king will also be included in the investigation. Legal action will be taken against those involved in murder, violence, and robbery," the Minister asserted.

Condemning attacks on media houses, he assured that the government would assess the damages inflicted by protesters and extend necessary support to affected media organizations.

Additionally, he affirmed that the government would ensure medical treatment for all those injured during the unrest.
