Minister hopeful Janardan Sharma resigns from PAC
KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Public Account Committee at the Parliament, Janardan Sharma, announced his resignation from the position "in the changed political context."
Speaking at the panel's meeting today, Sharma said he would resign from the post soon.
Sharma is said to be one of the leaders that the CPN Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal would choose to represent the party in the government led by him.
On the other hand, the parliamentary tradition has it that the PAC chairmanship is held by a lawmaker of a party except the one which the Finance Minister is a member of.
Currently, Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara is the Finance Minister in Dahal-led Cabinet.
