MJF-Democratic draws govt attention

KATHMANDU: The Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF)-Democratic has drawn the attention of the government for the implementation of eight-point agreement signed between the parties during the formation of incumbent government.

A team led by MJF-Democratic Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at latter's official residence at Baluwatar and urged for the implementation of the eight-point agreement.

The memorandum submitted to PM Oli demands to declare those who died during Tarai-Madhes agitation as martyrs, rightful compensation to those whose houses and properties were destroyed and looted as well as withdrawal of cases filed against its cadres.

On the occasion, DPM Gachchhadar said that the government should take initiative immediately to address the different issues including federalism, delineation of federal states and making the new constitution fully inclusive, among others.

In response, Prime Minister Oli said that he was positive regarding the implementation of the eight-point demand signed with MJF-Democratic. "I am positive to address your genuine demands as per the new constitution."

Different party leaders including Senior Vice-Chairperson Rameshwor Raya Yadav and Vice-Chairman Govinda Chaudhary were also present in the meet.
