Modernisation of Nepal Army discussed

KATHMANDU: A programme was held at the Nepal Army Headquarters on Wednesday to discuss modernisation of the army, to keep up with the times, and to make the institution more professional in the days to come.

The programme was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwor Pokharel, Chair of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the Parliament, Sashi Shrestha, Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa and heads of respective departments of the army, among others.

The attendants were apprised of the Army's responsibility, its operational activities, organisational structure, policies and were also provided an update on Tarai-Madhes Fast Track at the programme.
