Morang jewel thieves netted in Capital

KATHMANDU: A swoop by special squad dispatched from Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD), Hanumandhoka on Tuesday netted three dacoits who were found guilty of raiding Thapa Jewellry in Urlabari- 6 of Morang district on February 19. The jewellry was owned by Ram Thapa, hailing from Urlabari- 6 of Morang.

They had fled to Kathmandu making way with gold ornaments worth Rs 3.2 million. SSP Rana Bahadur Chand, in-charge, MPCD, informed that those arrested were Tek Raj Limbu (24) and Meshak Dewan 'Naren' (27), hailing from Sanishchare- 4 of Morang and Arjun Baraili (27) from Basantapur- 2 of Terhathum. "They're arrested separately from different parts of Kathmandu".

Police officials dispatched to arrest them had engaged in brief scuffle with the absconders, leaving both sides injured. Five others are still at large.

"We've also recovered Rs 1, 43,000, 15 tolas of gold, a Khukri and a mobile phone set with Sim card. They are undergoing trial under existing law," informed SSP Chand.
