KATHMANDU, MAY 27

More recoveries were reported than daily infections in the past 24 hours in Nepal while the countrywide Covid-19 death toll moved closer to the 7000 mark on Thursday.

As many as 7226 people that had earlier contracted Covid-19 were reported to have recovered as against the 6731 fresh cases that surfaced in the same period.

The total active case count, as such, stands at 116,476 while the country's coronavirus caseload has reached 542,256.

A total of 106 fatalities were logged today after which the total death count stands at 6951.

208 people tested positive for Covid-19 through antigen tests. As such, a total of 6939 people, including those that tested positive via PCR test, were found to have freshly contracted the disease.

Till date, 418,829 people have been discharged after having recovered, indicating a 77.2 per cent recovery rate.

Meanwhile, 1738 infections were reported in the capital city on Thursday while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 364 and 265 cases respectively. The valley's 24-hour figure, 2367 cases, showed a marginal increase compared to yesterday's 1493 infections.

Globally, a total of 169,115,426 cases have been reported till date, of which 150,750,980 (89.1%) are recovery cases. Likewise, 14,851,085 infections (8.8%) are still active. Unfortunately, as many as 3,513,361 people (2.1%) have lost their lives in the pandemic.
