2,486 infections through PCR test, 133 positives through antigen test, 14 deaths logged Saturday

KATHMANDU, APRIL 24

Nepal reported as many as 2,486 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, shifting the total countrywide infection count to 297,087. Meanwhile, 133 positives were detected through the antigen tests.

Of the newly infected, 1,006 are females and 1,480 are males.

Kathmandu district holds the highest number of new infections with 644 cases. Lalitpur reported 141 cases whereas 87 new cases were reported from Bhaktapur. Similarly, Banke has recorded the second highest daily number with 352 cases while Rupandehi stands third with 268 new cases.

Likewise, 368 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by the Health Ministry. As of today, 277,123 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate from the disease stands at 93.3 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 16,828.

The nationwide death-toll has reached 3,136 with 14 Covid-related fatalities reported today.

According to the health ministry, 8,668 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 7,525 were PCR tests while 1,143 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,395,725 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 71 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Friday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 294,601 with 2,449 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 146 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while over 3 million people have lost their lives to the disease. Likewise, over 124 million people have recovered while more than 19 million cases are still active.
