Nepal reported a total of 2,559 coronavirus infections on Friday, shifting the total countrywide infection count to 294,601. Of the total cases, 2449 infections were shown positive in PCR tests and 110 in antigen tests.

Of the newly infected, 1,023 are females and 1,426 are males.

Kathmandu district holds the highest number of new infections with 760 cases. Lalitpur reported 106 cases whereas 74 new cases were reported from Bhaktapur.

Likewise, 410 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by the Health Ministry.

As of today, 276,755 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate from the disease stands at 93.9 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 14,724.

The nationwide death-toll has reached 3,122 with five Covid-related fatalities reported today.

According to the health ministry, 9,664 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 8,798 were PCR tests while 866 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,388,200 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 75 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Thursday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 292,152, with 2,365 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 145 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3 million people have lost their lives to the disease. Likewise, over 123 million people have recovered while more than 18 million cases are still active.
