Motor rally being held to raise awareness on cancer, safe driving

‘The Amazing Motor Rally 2018’ is being held on Friday with the theme ‘Experience Nepal’.

At a press conference organised by Nepal Tourism Board in coordination with Nepal Cancer Relief Society and Kathmandu Guest House Foundation here today, Diwakar Rajkarnikar, coordinator of the rally, informed that the motor rally was being organised to promote domestic tourism, raise awareness of cancer and encourage safe driving.

The rally will begin from NTB at 7:00am and end at Machhapuchhre Tole, Pokhara. Anyone can participate in the rally after buying tickets worth Rs 10,000. “The fund collected from the tickets will be donated to NCRS for the treatment of cancer patients,” he said.

Free Health Camp will be held on January 27 for the locals. Especially pap smear and breast cancer screening will be conducted with the help of doctors and nurses of Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital,” said Lokendra Shrestha, director at Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital.

“Participants will also be honoured for safe driving. The winners will be decided analysing the time, distance and speed of driving,” Rajkarnikar said.

Mani Raj Lamichhane, acting director of NTB, said tourist arrivals had decreased after the 2015 earthquakes, but domestic tourism was flourishing.
