Kathmandu, May 19:
Motorists and motorcyclists have come up with a different way to defy the series of bandhs. During previous bandhs many of them were seen covering their vehicles’ number plates with ‘press’. But this time they have covered the number plates with funny expressions.
‘We Want Peace’, Hospital, ‘Only for Tourists’, ‘Going to Hospital for Grandpa’s Surgery’, ‘We Defy Bandhs’, ‘On Search’, ‘Malami’, ‘Om Shanti’ and ‘Compulsion ???’ were a few expressions that covered number plates of the vehicles yesterday and today. Covering number plates during normal days is illegal. But no actions are taken on bandhs, accept traffic cops. Most pillion riders did not wear helmets. “Why should I wear helmet when I have put my life at risk by defying bandh,” said Ramesh of Kalimati. “Of course, there is no different provision for the bandhs, say traffic police. “Every citizen should follow traffic rules and those who defy rules are answerable to the law,” said Ramesh Sunwar.
