Mural art painting workshop at Kanjirowa concludes

KATHMANDU: A five-day mural art painting workshop organised in the Capital concluded on Wednesday.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jeeban Bahadur Shahi observed mural arts and other art works prepared by the students in the concluding function yesterday.

Speaking at the programme, Minister Shahi said that the country needed such educational institutions whose teaching method was not only limited to bookish knowledge, but would also focus on art and culture.

The students had made the arts under the leadership of Associate Professor Edward Cuenco of Angelo State University in Texas, USA .

Cuenco, who trained teachers and students of around two dozen government and private schools, appreciated the tireless efforts of Nepali students saying that they had a prosperous future if they were provided with necessary platform to exhibit their talents.

Meanwhile, the Higher Secondary School Association Nepal (HISSAN) Chairman Ramesh Silwal asserted the need of effective teaching for better education.

The mural art painting workshop had started from December 10 and was organised by Kanjirowa National School in collaboration with the United States Education Foundation.
