Murder on the run nabbed

Kathmandu, November 3

The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police today arrested a murder convict from Anamnagar.

Sitaram Chaudhary, 35, of Urahari VDC-6, Dang had been absconding since Dang District Court sentenced him to life in absentia on May 30, 2012 for cold-blooded murder of Ramesh Hamal, a resident of the same VDC.

Chaudhary in cahoots with others had abducted and hacked the victim to death with a sword on April 8, 2010 to ‘take revenge of death threats to a man’.

Dhan Bahadur Hamal, a close relative of the victim, had filed an FIR against Chaudhary and other defendants at the court.

Six days after the abduction, Hamal’s body was found half-buried on the bank of a brook in Hekuli VDC-1, Dang. Some other murder convicts are still at large. According to CIB, Chaudhary had been changing his hide-outs from time to time to evade the police.
