Murder suspect arrested

Kathmandu, October 31

Police today arrested a man on the charge of murdering his business partner from Kathmandu.

According to Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Lalman Shrestha, 22, of Gorkha had allegedly killed 30-year-old Ram Pariyar, who also hailed from the same district, in the latter’s rented room in Bijeshwori, Kathmandu-15, on October 22.

The decomposed body of Pariyar was found in his locked room on October 28.

MPCD said Shrestha and Pariyar had been running a restaurant in Nayabazaar with joint investment of Rs 75,000 for the past six months. “On October 22, they got drunk and engaged in a heated argument over their partnership. Eventually, Shrestha hit Pariyar with a stone mortar and a vase on the head and made off with the victim’s gold ring, passport and a bag by locking the door from outside,” read a press release issued by MPCD.
