Music album to be launched atop Everest

Kathmandu, March 21:

Three-time record holder mountaineer Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, 20, is all set to launch his own musical album on the peak of the Mt Everest, which is expected to make a new world record.

Sherpa is set to launch his music album Sherpini Kanchi at the top of the submit during his third expedition to the Mt Everest starting from March 26. He hoped that his expedition would be complete by June. The album has got eight songs with Sherpa’s own music composition that is intoned by different contemporary singers and himself. Sherpa scaled the summit two times before and made three world records, as a youngest man to scale the Everest without oxygen. He has already set world record as the first man to launch a book at the summit on May 31, 2005 and claims to be the first musician and lyricist to scale the world’s highest peak. Now, he aims to be first mountaineer to launch his own musical album on peak of the Mt Everest.

In this expedition, Sherpa is going to hoist the flag of Nepal and Kantipur FM, which he said was a tribute to Nepal and the FM station that helped to bring democracy in the country.

Talking to this daily, Sherpa expressed that the whole idea was generated with the desire to promote mountaineering and to expand its horizon. He said: “I want people to know that mountaineers could have multiple talents. I want the world to know about the creativity of the Nepali people. I have a desire to make 20 records in mountaineering.”

Sherpa stressed that the government should promote mountaineering. “Due to government’s lack of concern, most of world record holders are accepting foreign citizenship, which is a great loss to Nepal,” he said. Pradip Gyawali, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, at a programme today handed over Nepal’s flag to Sherpa. He promised to help the mountaineers.
