The Nepali Army (NA) has rescued 713 individuals trapped by floods, inundations, and other monsoon-induced disasters, using NA helicopters for airlift operations.
The rescues were conducted across Kavre, Sindhuli, Makawanpur, Lalitpur, and Kathmandu districts, following requests from the Ministry of Home Affairs, according to Ministry Spokesperson Rishiram Tiwari.
A total of 532 individuals stranded due to road blockages along the BP Highway were transported to safety and hospitalized from Kavre district.
"Private helicopters have also been deployed for rescue operations in the affected areas," Tiwari added.
Three NA helicopters have been in operation since Saturday, continuing through this evening. The rescue efforts by helicopter are nearing completion, though additional flights may be conducted if needed on Tuesday.
The NA also delivered relief materials to affected areas by air.
The Ministry reported that more than 4,000 people have been safely rescued from across the country in recent disasters.
As of Monday evening, 209 people have been confirmed dead due to monsoon-induced calamities. Efforts are ongoing to clear debris and restore traffic along the highways.
