Bijukchhe sees India's hand in government change bid

KATHMANDU: Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Chairman Narayan Man Bijukchhe said the incumbent government was being toppled to meet interests of India.

Speaking with journalists in Bhaktapur today, Bijukchhe said Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal were interested to topple the CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli-led government after India directed them for the same.

The veteran Communist leader argued that India had wanted to topple this government as it was planning to ensure an early visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, which was likely to be a significant achievement for Nepal.

If the new government would not move ahead toward implementing various agreements signed with China, it could be disastrous for Nepal, he warned.

Meanwhile, Bijukchhe also accused Speaker Onsari Gharti of supporting the Maoist bid to topple the government.

The Speaker could not maintain neutrality and dignity of her position, he commented.

Bijukchhe was of the view that the new government would add more problems to implementation of the new Constitution and solution to the Madhes problem.
