KATHMANDU: The vote count for the election of the new leadership of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA), an umbrella organisation of lawyers in the country continued in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

According to the latest information, the democratic group is leading in the latest count. The panel of Prem Bahadur Khadka has garnered 1,173 votes, Hari Krishana Karaki bagged 852 whereas the next panel led by Ram Nath Mainali secured 293 votes.

Lawyers had cast ballots at 34 different polling centres across the country to elect 17 candidates.

Though there are 6,899 registered legal practitioners, only 5,922 lawyers cast votes in Sunday's election for the new NBA leadership.
