NC boycotts CA session

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress today boycotted the regular business of the parliament, arguing that the government was seeking explanation from Chief of Army Staff Rukmangad Katwal without convincing ground and alleged that it had formed the State Restructuring Commission unilaterally.

Addressing today's House, NC vice president and CA member Ram Chandra Poudel wanted to know on what ground the government sought an explanation from the CoAS. He said the Maoist-led government was imposing its authoritarian rule by weakening all the state organs -- army, judiciary and bureaucracy.

Regarding the government's decision to seek explanation from the CoAS, Minister for Agriculture and Cooperative J P Gupta, who is also co-president of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum, said the government would make public its stance on the issue tomorrow. Regular business of the House was scrapped after the NC boycotted the House, which was adjourned till Tuesday afternoon.
