NC district chiefs’ meet
Kathmandu, May 3:
District presidents of the Nepali Congress (NC) are holding a three-day convention in the party office in Sanepa from tomorrow.
They will discuss and analyse the current political scenario and determine the party’s future course of action. The meeting is likely to focus on the government’s failure to hold CA polls on time, an NC leader said.
NC central working committee leader Laxman Ghimire said the district presidents would discuss and analyse the deteriorating law and order situation, besides analysing activities of the government, the seven parties and the Maoists.
The convention is also likely to “pressurise” the party leadership to make its stand on the issue of monarchy clear. “The party cannot keep the people in confusion now,” a district president said, adding that the convention would pile pressure on the party leadership to go for a republic.
The convention will be inaugurated by PM Girija Prasad Koirala.
