KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 5

The members of the Federal Parliament representing the Nepali Congress (NC) have decided to contribute their 15-day remunerations to support recent earthquake survivors in Karnali Province.

A meeting of the NC parliamentary party made this decision, according to party sources.

The meeting, chaired by Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba and held at his residence in Dhumbarahi, extended heartfelt condolences to the families grieving the loss of their loved ones in the disaster and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. The assistance amount will be provided to the government.

Party Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak stated that the meeting expressed deep sorrow over the casualties and property losses resulting from the earthquake.

The earthquake, measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale and with its epicenter in Jajarkot, struck at 11:47 pm on Friday, resulting in significant casualties and property damage. So far, 157 deaths have been confirmed due to the quake.
