NC leader Karki cremated

Kathmandu, January 14:

Senior leader of the Nepali Congress (NC), Beni Bahadur Karki, was today cremated at the Pashupati Aryaghat in the presence of thousands of party workers and leaders of various political parties.

Karki, 75, died last night due to cardiac arrest. He had been admitted to a hospital in the afternoon. His body had been kept at the BP Memorial House in Sanepa, which houses the central office of the NC. Karki’s contribution to politics dates back to 1948 and he was very close to legendary NC leader, BP Koirala. He remained the treasurer of the party for two years before 1990.

Those paying tribute to Karki included NC President Girija Prasad Koirala, CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, Prime Minister and President of the NC (D) Sher Bahadur Deuba and Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandi) General Secretary Hridayesh Tripathi.
