NC meet decides to support UML

KATHMANDU: The parliamentary party meeting of the Nepali Congress on Thursday upheld central committee’s decision to support CPN-UML to form the new government. NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi informed the lawmakers about the party’s decision and requested them to endorse it.

“Our party decided to support the UML to make the future government,” a leader quoted Nidhi as saying. Nidhi also accused the UCPN- Maoist of trying to disrupt the formation of a new government. “It may favour the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF) but wouldn’t want UML to lead the new government,” he said.Today’s meeting also welcomed President Dr Ram Baran Yadav’s move to reinstate the Chief of Army Staff Rookmangud Katawal. After the meeting NC chief whip Laxman Prasad Ghimire said, “President’s move protected the constitution and stopped the government from taking an unconstitutional decision.”

The NC also criticised the disruption of the parliamentary session by the Maoist lawmakers.

Today’s meeting also condemned the anarchic and autocratic activities of UCPN-Maoist in several districts. The Maoists should stop attacking and threatening the cadres of other parities, the meeting concluded.
