NC MPs urge party to clear Madhes mess

Kathmandu, December 29:

Madhesi lawmakers of the Nepali Congress today drew the attention of the party leadership to accelerate efforts to address the Madhes issues.

A Madhesi lawmaker present during the one-and-half-hour meeting at the PM Girija Prasad Koirala said the Madhesi MPs reiterated their concern before the NC leadership to avert the possibility of more resignations from the NC’s Madhesi lawmakers.

On December 18, the NC had formed a five-member task force to check Madhesi MPs and party activists from defecting to the newly announced TMDP with former NC senior leader Mahanta Thakur as the party chief. The Madhesi lawmakers today reminded the party of the “short-term” as well as long-term” programmes to address the problems faced by the Madhesi people.
