Nepal Communist Party Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said that all Nepali people should stand united against elements trying to create instability in the country.

Dahal said so during a brief press meet at Tribhuvan International Airport before leaving for the United States of America for his wife Sita’s treatment.

“Development work will be expedited with the beginning of next fiscal through the new budget as the government has prepared the foundation for development by formulating required laws and necessary structures,” Dahal said.

Dahal held a meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and other senior party leaders yesterday to discuss issues related to party unification and other political agendas. According to Dahal, certain issues of party unification has not been sorted out yet.

Dahal is planning to return home within 10 days after his wife’s treatment. “If it takes longer, my daughter Ganga will stay there with her mother,” Dahal said.

Dahal is also likely to visit US government officials. “I will formally or informally discuss mutual relations with US officials,” he added.

Sita is suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy. She will be treated by psychiatrists and neurologists.

Sita had been asking Dahal to take her to the US for her treatment.

According to Dahal, the government, Nepali ambassador to the US and US ambassador to Nepal coordinated his US visit. Earlier, Dahal had taken his wife to Singapore for treatment.
