KATHMANDU: National Federation of the Deaf Nepal (NDFN) has demanded that the Constituent Assembly include Nepali sign language as language of the nation in the new constitution on a par with other mother tongues of Nepal. NDFN Chairperson Ram Kushal Pant recently handed over suggestions to the chairperson of the Committee on Citizen Relations and Public Opinion Collection Pramila Rana to be incorporated in the new constitution. The NDFN has also suggested that the right to use translators for hearing impaired persons  be included among the fundamental rights.

Detention segregated

KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Range, Teku has established separate rooms for male, female, and third gender inmates who are arrested in connection with various crimes. It is the first time that a police office in the country has start gender-friendly custody rooms. The total accommodates around 180 inmates, officials said. The MPR was shifted to Teku from Hanumandhoka after its old structure suffered damage in the April 25 earthquake.

Promotion list out

KATHMANDU: The Secretariat of Promotion Committee under Nepal Police has published a list of police officials who were recommended for promotion. A public notice issued by DSP Bharat Bahadur BK, member secretary at the Committee, said the names of seven ASIs of technical group have been recommended for promotion to the SI level. The ASIs listed for promotion are Krishna Prasad Sharma, Deepak Rana, Dal Bahadur Thapa, Karna Bahadur Mainali, Raju Damai, Ramji Damai and Raman Bahadur Palli Magar.

Two held for murder

BHAKTAPUR: Metropolitan Police Circle, Thimi, has arrested two persons on the charge of their involvement in a murder case. Police arrested Jabir Ansari, 19, of Manohar VDC in Siraha district and currently working in Pathibhara Bag Industry at Anantalingeshwor Municipality and Menuka Chaudhary of Inaruwa in Sunsari district on the murder charge. Police said the duo was arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of Ansari’s wife Sahajari Khatun. Khatun’s body was found near Rose Village Housing in Balkot on Friday. The two were held from a rented-room in Kalopul.
