Nepal Academy urged to protect Nepali language
KATHMANDU: Experts today urged to protect the Nepali language and to control the rampant misuse of Nepali words.
Stating that Nepali language has been misused rampantly without following any rules and regulation, the experts urged the Nepal Academy to control the misuse of Nepali words and Nepali grammar as well. Dr Shankar Kumar Shrestha, a legal expert, urged the government to formulate strict rules for preserving Nepali language. He was speaking at the launching of his book: “Comprehensive English-English-Nepali Dictionary”. The book was launched by Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University , Professor Madhav Prasad Sharma. Professor Hem Poudel said that the words borrowed from foreign languages should not be used in Nepali context. Former vice chancellor, Kedar Bhakta Mathema appreciated Shrestha's book and said it would help the Nepalis to develop their language.
