‘Nepal bearing brunt of carbon emission by other countries’
Kathmandu, June 5
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Pokharel today said carbon emission by other countries was adversely affecting Nepal.
At a programme held to launch ‘Environmental Law Journal’ on the World Environment Day by Environmental Development and Conservation Legal Forum, Minister Pokharel said Nepal was forced to bear the brunt of carbon emissions by western countries.
He stressed on continuing campaigns for environmental protection and called on the government and the private sector to make efforts control carbon emission.
Dr Sumitra Amatya, a member of the National Planning Commission, called on all the political parties to join hands for protecting the health of the people by focusing on environmental conservation.
Chief Executive Officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Rudra Singh Tamang pledged to abide by the Supreme Court orders to remove the hoarding boards that cause visual pollution in the city.
At the programme, advocate Padam Bahadur Shrestha presented a working document on the problems of visual pollution and the Supreme Court order. Shrestha underlined the negative impact on city’s beauty due to haphazard use of pamphlets, banners and hoarding boards.
