Nepal Bhasa Sahitya Sammelan ends

Bhaktapur, October 15:

The two-day long 25th Nepal Bhasa Sahitya Sammelan concluded here today demanding true democracy through their literary creations. Some 50 established and emerging litterateurs had participated the conference and most of them portrayed the ongoing movement against royal move and demanded true democracy in the country.

Among those reciting their poems were noted poets Sulochana Manandhar, Purna Baidhya, Hridaya Prasad Mishra, Ram Shekhar Nakarmi, Damodar Suwal, Dr Sharad Dhital, Devi Jha and Nati Bajra.In poetry category Prahar Duwal bagged the first prize while Shambhu Prajapati and Amod Ulak stood second and third respectively.

In story competition Hari Sundar Potamaha was judged the best and Krishneswori Duwal stood second and Leela Nyaichyai stood third. In essay, Om Dhaubhadel stood first, Shyam Krishna Khulimuli second and Raj Kumar Laghu bagged the third prize. Meanwhile, two toppers in the SLC examination from private and government owned schools also received prizes. Sujala Maharjan of Birendra Sainik School and Narayan Bajrapal of Modern English Boarding School Dadhikot received prizes from private schools while Anita Kayastha of Vidhyarthi Niketan School and Sunil Hakuja Shrestha of Araniko School of Dadhikot bagged the prizes from the government school.

The president of the Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party Narayan Man Bijukchhe handed over prizes to the winners of the literary contest that included poems, stories and essays. Addressing the function Krishna Prasad Sitaula of Nepali Congress said Nepali people are committed to end autocracy and therefore the ongoing people’s movement would continue until the fall of autocracy.

Subash Nemwang of the CPN- UML said the literature that does not link with the people won’t last long. Similarly, former president of the Nepal Bar Association Sindhu Nath Pyakurel urged the litterateurs to generate awareness among the people through their literary creations.
