Nepal consulate to open in Chengdu

KATHMANDU:  Nepal will open its consulate general in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan  Province of China. The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday took the decision  with the view of enhancing consular and economic ties between Nepal and  Chengdu, according to Minister for Information and Communications Sher  Dhan Rai. Mayor of Chengdu Tang Lianhzhi had requested Nepal to set up  its consular mission in Chengdu in December when Deputy Prime Minister  and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa had visited the city. This will be  Nepal’s third consular mission in China, besides in Lhasa and Hong Kong.  Earlier, it was decided to open up another consular mission in the  southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, but the Chinese side has not  approves it yet. With this, Nepal will now have 37 diplomatic outposts,  including 29 embassies, two permanent missions and six consulates.
