Nepal-Khanal group to brief media about nationwide party workers' meet today

KATHMANDU, MARCH 16

The Madhav Nepal faction of the ruling CPN-UML boycotted the tea-meeting organised by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at his official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday, thus giving it a miss.

The county's political scenario is heated up as major parties including the UML, CPN-Maoist Centre, Nepali Congress and Janata Samajwadi Party are, at the moment, engaging in the mathematics of power to maintain space in the government, or make way into it.

On one side, while the Oli faction has sidelined the disgruntled group by dismantling the old party structure, the Nepal-Khanal group, after being legally 'forced' to break coalition with Pushpa Kamal Dahal and return home to the UML has called a national meeting of cadres belonging to the group on Wednesday and Thursday.

In the same regard, the dissenting group will be organising a presser shortly to brief the media about the group's further plan of action.

Meanwhile, President Bidya Devi Bhandari, in a bid to check the current political stalemate invited after the quashing of the then Nepal Communist Party (NCP), has called an all-party meeting at Shital Niwas today at 4:00 pm.
