KATHMANDU: Inspector General of Nepal Police Prakash Aryal assumed his office at the Nepal Police headquarters after Home Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi conferred the insignia on him at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday midnight.

Earlier, a meeting of the Cabinet had decided to elevate Deputy Inspector General Aryal with a double promotion to lead the Nepal Police.

Senior government officials, and chiefs of Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department were  present at the Home Ministry where Secretary Regmi conferred the IGP's insignia  on Aryal.
