NT donates equipment for Bagmati Clean-up Campaign

KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom (NT), the state-owned telecommunication service provider, has donated equipment for the Bagmati Clean-up Campaign on the occasion of its 12th anniversary on Saturday.

The equipment were handed over by the NT Managing Director Buddhi Prasad Acharya to the leader of the clean-up campaign, former Chief Secretary Leela Mani Paudyal.

In a statement released by the company, it pledged to support the Campaign in the future as a part of its corporate social responsibility.

On the occasion, Paudyal expressed his gratitude towards the contribution of telecom company from the starting of the campaign.

Secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development Dipendra Nath Sharma also expressed his gratitude to the NT for its involvement and requested the company to extend support in building public toilets, parks and other necessary infrastructures on the banks Bagmati River.

NT staff had gathered at its Babarmahal-based office and marched towards Baneshwor Campus near the River holding placards and banners.

Bagmati clean-up campaign started on May 19, 2013 with a regular weekly clean-up session.

The NT, from the second week of the campaign, has been inviting its customers to participate in the campaign through SMS every week.
