NC to finalise candidates for second phase local level elections by May 26
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress has decided to finalise the name of its candidates for the second phase of local level elections slated for June 14, by May 26.
A meeting of the top NC leaders held at the party headquarters today took the decision in this regard for the candidates to prepare for the elections by formulating the party's strategy for the second-round of elections, said Krishna Prasad Paudel, Chief Secretary at the Party's central office.
The meeting decided to take initiative to create an environment for the people's participation in the elections.
"The meeting also discussed on making extensive preparation in an effective manner for the second round of elections and reviewed the result of the first phase of the local level elections," said NC General Secretary Shashanka Koirala.
The NC has started consulting with other parties to bring the Madhes-based parties on board the elections by approving the Constitution amendment proposal.
NC General Secretary Koirala further stated that a new government would be formed under the leadership of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba as per the agreement reached between NC and CPN Maoist Centre at the time of the formation of the ruling coalition.
The Party also directed all its mechanisms, sister organisations and well wishers to carry out preparation in order to get the best result in the upcoming elections.
