Nepali Congress lawmakers from Tarai want Constitution amendment endorsed

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress lawmakers representing Tarai-Madhes constituencies have stressed the endorsement of Constitution amendment bill at any cost.

The lawmakers suggested making the Constitution amendment a success at any cost, during a meeting, on Sunday.

The meeting was called to discuss major contemporary political issue of Constitution amendment.

Lawmakers suggested passing the Constitution amendment bill by discussing with most of the political parties including the main opposition CPN-UML, informed NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba after the gathering.

Ruling out possibility of any complementary proposal on the bill, Deuba reiterated that the Constitution amendment bill tabled by the incumbent government should be passed.

The Constitution amendment was a must to make the Madhesi people well-equipped with rights and to end the dissatisfaction of the people regarding the Constitution, said lawmaker Farmullah Mansur.

In a different context, the NC chief said that it was unnecessary to discuss recommendations for the ambassador in the party's Central Working Committee.
