Nepali Congress Prez saddened by Khotang, Doti road accidents
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba expressed his sadness over road accidents in Khotang and Doti.
As many as 24 persons were killed on the spot and 31 were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident at Barkhetar of Mahadevsthan VDC, along the Halesi-Diktel road section of Mid-hill Lokmarga, in Khotang, on Tuesday morning.
Similarly, as many as eight people were killed and seven others were injured in a jeep accident at Jijodamandu-8 of Doti district last night.
Expressing his heartfelt tribute to victims, Deuba, issuing a statement on Wednesday, wished for speedy recovery of those injured in the accidents.
More than 2,000 people were killed in various road accidents across the country in 2072, Deuba reminded.
Deuba said that he would urge the government soon to take necessary initiatives to minimise the road accidents.
